TJCA students explore sustainability and higher education opportunities at Catawba College

On Friday, Oct. 3, several seventh and eighth-grade students from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy visited Catawba College in Salisbury for a campus tour focused on sustainability and student life.

Students explored the campus, ate lunch in the cafeteria, and toured Catawba’s Environmental Center, where they learned about the college’s initiatives in environmental sustainability. For many students, it was their first visit to a college campus.

The group was welcomed by TJCA alumna Jennie Connor, who led the tour and shared insights about her experience as a Catawba student.

The visit was made possible through a new partnership between TJCA and Catawba College, established this summer. The collaboration includes scholarship opportunities and aims to create new academic and experiential pathways for middle and high school students.

Catawba’s continued growth in environmental sustainability, the performing arts, and nursing aligns with TJCA’s commitment to preparing students for success through access to high-quality, future-focused programs.
